Not a flat plate
Nice quality but the plates looked like bowls with a large lip on the sides. They were not flat.

really nice, but...
beautiful set of dishes alto family agreed that the cups are small an the bowls are shallow, so I decided to return them and continue looking for a set that fits us.
They are perfection!!!
I had a set of these years ago when our children were young and they held up beautifully. I went in a different direction for years, with darker dishes and gave that set away. I recently desired to lighten up my decorating scheme so I have a new set of these beautiful, classically simple Mikasa French Countryside back in my cupboard. I couldn't be more pleased!!!

Simple and elegant.
I really love this simple, but elegant dishes. They go through the dishwasher really well and come out shining and great looking. This is the dish pattern my aunt had, and so each time I use these dishes I have wonderful memories of her. The only thing I would wish for is that the salad plates had more useable flat surface area.
The set had exactly the pieces I needed
The 40 piece set was of good quality but the accessories (cereal bowls) I ordered were not the same. Four of the bowls had a pinkish cast and one had a chip. Overall the feel of the bowls was “chunky” not light and delicate like the 40 piece set. I was satisfied with your attempt to correct the problem with the five bowls (you replaced them) and I now have 8 bowls that match. However, there is an obvious difference in the quality making me hesitant to purchase further accessories.

Dishes have distinctive and varying imprint levels
WARNING: The dish manufacturers for Italian Country dinnerware have very likely changed over time and it shows in the product, as others have claimed. The quality output from each manufacturer is painfully obvious. Some dishes have a lovely deep imprint of pattern around the edge and others have imprints that are barely visible - more a suggestion of an imprint. You can see this in the attached photo, including the slight differences in product coloration. I ordered the cereal bowls (separate order) and they all have the same deep imprint, which is interesting. The stark contrast between the deep and shallow imprint dishes is too obvious to make the set elegant when placed next to each other on a table. If all of them were the same poor quality imprint that would be better than the mismatched sets being shipped today - maybe even whimsical since the dishes are targeting an ancient Italian theme. The mismatch is across all pieces: cups, bowls, plates and saucers. I love the idea of the set and wish I had bought it many years ago when the quality was better. If this kind of issue matters to you, I recommend you avoid my disappointment and consider a different set of dishes. I'll be contacting customer service Monday - closed on the weekends. Will update the review accordingly.

A perfect heirloom style set
I love this set! I’ve been keeping my eye on these for quite some time. When they went on sale, I purchased this 40 piece set and everything else that goes along with it. I ordered the bread plates, the cereal bowls, and the fruit bowls. It is not a true white set, but more of an off-white creamy color. They are beautiful and they feel very durable. I’m hoping to have these as heirloom dishes that maybe my kids would want down the road. The design of them makes them usable for every day use, or you could dress them up for Thanksgiving and even Christmas. They’re the perfect dishes.
